Mayor Eric Busch and Mayor Pro Tem Bill Fisher have attempted multiple tax and fee increases on businesses and residents to pay for huge pay raises they gave to the El Segundo firefighter and police unions during the recession, after those unions gave them thousands of dollars in campaign support.
The voters rejected their business Utility User Tax (UUT) increase and their new residential trash collection fees.
Then they decided to target the El Segundo Chevron oil refinery with a $10 million per year tax increase. And City Manager Doug Willmore was their willing and eager accomplice.
